Installation

The installation package may be provided either as a compressed .zip file, or as a self-extracting executable .exe file.

Note: This package should be installed on a system which has a VIA /S3G graphics chipset. The setup program will automatically terminate without installing if a VIA / S3G graphics chipset is not present.

Two installation modes are provided.

Windows normal mode

The normal mode executes through a Windows user interface which provides convenient and systematic installation.

If your download package was in .ZIP format:
• Double-click the ZIP compressed file and expand it to a folder on your hard disk.
• Locate the SETUP.EXE file in the folder containing your expanded package.
• Double-click SETUP to launch the installation program.
• Respond to the prompts.

If your download package was in .EXE format:
• Double-click the self-extracting .EXE execution file.
• Wait while the file self-extracts. The SETUP tool will launch the installation program automatically.
• Respond to any requested prompts.
• The extracted file will be deleted automatically after setup has been terminated.

Silent mode

In silent install mode the user runs SETUP.EXE from a command line and appends desired parameters to suppress the need for further user intervention. Silent install mode is usually applied by a systems maintenance engineer, as it is a useful mode for servicing a large number of systems that do not have or do not require an interactive user interface. Silent install mode can be run through the command line in console or batch file execution.

The parameters below allow run the setup program to run in silent mode without displaying the popup and dialog windows which might require user input.

Available command line parameters are: -s and -s noreboot ;

Parameter -s noreboot Description:
This command line parameter is required to enable silent mode operation. If this parameter is missed, SETUP.EXE will launch the Windows user interface and prompts will require responses from the user.
Example: setup.exe -s noreboot
Perform a silent install of the graphics driver and utilities, but do not reboot the computer.

Parameter -s ; Description:
This string passes the predefined sub-parameter reboot to SETUP.EXE. Setup -s causes Setup.exe to reboot automatically after the silent mode installation operation is completed.
Example: setup.exe -s
Perform a silent install of the graphics driver and utilities, and then reboot the computer.

Note that the command line syntax will differ slightly depending on the downloadable package format, the state of its expansion, and the desire to use batch execution.

For example, a ZIP-Compressed file might be expanded and setup run using a batch file which would include two commands: one to unzip the file and the next to launch setup with the desired parameters. First know where your command-line unzip utility (such as unzip.exe or wzunzip.exe) resides, or include the utility in your path.

Open a command window.
Make a target folder: md targetfolder
Change to the source folder: cd sourcefolder
Unzip the source file to the target folder:
C:\program files\winzip\wzunzip filename.zip C:\targetfolder
Change to the target folder: cd targetfolder
Launch the setup tool with desired parameters: setup.exe -s

The .EXE file could be run directly from the command line using the syntax:

filename.exe -s.
