OVERVIEW OF THE PRINTING-SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Network administrator software components
NOTE: HP Web Jetadmin is not included on the software CD. Network administrators can download the HP Web Jetadmin software at the following Web site: www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin
HP Printer Utility for Mac OS X
HP Driver Deployment Utility for Windows operating systems
The printing-system software CD includes the HP Driver Deployment Utility as one of the installer options. Network administrators can use this utility to create a custom printer-driver installation package that includes the organization-specific components. Select the components from the printing-system software CD. If the selected printer drivers support preconfiguration, you are prompted to preconfigure the printer-driver settings. Upon completion, the customization utility produces an executable file (*.EXE) and a *.CAB file. Use these files to install the preconfigured printer drivers on client machines. This utility supports silent, batch operations. To gain access to the customization utility, select Advanced Install options on the first CD browser screen, select Administrator Software on the second screen, and then select Driver Deployment Utility.
If you have modified the configuration of the product since installation, the driver can be automatically updated with the new configuration in environments that support bidirectional communication. In the Printers and Faxes folder, right-click the printer and select Properties. On the Device Settings tab, click Automatic Configuration, and then select Update Now. This automatically captures the new configuration in the driver.
